I AM SOMEBODY

“And so every black person in this country must rise up and say I’m somebody; I have a rich proud and noble history, however painful and exploited it has been. I am black, but I am black and beautiful.”

-Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

CALLING ALL ARTIST!

In collaboration with the Harrison County Arts, the Martin Luther King Jr. Committee is excited to offer two incredible opportunities for young, emerging, and professional artists. The first is a mural competition where artists can submit proposals for a chance to have their design painted behind the Beanblossom Building in Bicentennial Park, Corydon, Indiana. The second opportunity invites middle and high school artists to create works inspired by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Am Somebody" speech. These pieces will be showcased at the Presbyterian Church during the Martin Luther King Jr. celebration on January 19th, 2025, and select works will continue on display at the Harrison County Arts’ Linda Shoults Resource Center. This is a unique chance to honor Dr. King's legacy through art and gain recognition in the community. Submit your proposals and creations today!
